Present:

Matters arising and actions:

  • Agenda is now accessible from all within CERN
  • Antonio to get in touch with Christos for the SPS BLM ISTs (ACTION)

Agenda:

  • News on dry-run and test progress (K. Li)
    • Still to check AllClockDistr which is not in LSA after FESA2 migration - look at this offline with Anthony and Andy (ACTION: Anthony and Andy to have a look at this)
    • FESA classes for FGCs - to be checked; in simulation mode we can have a test; should arrive around 15 February
    • ALPS has already been well tested by Stephane in BA3
    • ALPS interlocks needs to be checked early together with Yannick!

  • RF LL and SW planning (A. Butterworth)
    • Ideal to look at FESA class readiness
    • Andy presents cavity control, beam control and beam based measurements
    • As HW will be ready close to the startup, we need to created FESA classes with APIs that can already be used in simulation mode so that OP can start integrating
    • Generic components are well advanced; timings, functions, acquisition
    • By end March RF wants to have all devices defined and instantiated so that they can be instantiated in the CCDB and LSA
    • Cavity control close to completion; next task will be a mock beam control interface and classes
    • Next, check FESA functions
    • Assume cavity control by March (including set-points and loops), beam control by April - we can start building Makerules
    • Need to foresee Functions FESA soon
    • VME crates powering up should be checked - (ACTION); Anthony has made sure that all crates are update with CC7 and all FESA classes have been upgraded to FESA3 --> this migration needs to be tested as well (ACTION - Anthony; go offline through list of legacy hardware to be tested)
    • Clock selection will be checked explicitly during clock selection - OP needs to be able to manage the settings - (ACTION - not to forget to manage this correctly, Guilia to follow up; Kevin to check with Fabio on application)
    • Long blow-up will be in a separate FESA class; for the long. blow-up we will have a similar interface as in the past; one continuous function now as we have more memory
    • FESA class forctionsions should be ready ; acquaition ready soon.
    • Giulia stressed to have one general buffer as well as one separate one for the SPSQC (ACTION - Andy to check if FESA classes need permanently allocated buffers to be able to push to post-mortem)
    • Wolfgang comments that all control for legacy beam observation whether this is covered - Guilia is planing to re-install what was installed.

  • SPS commissioning breakdown overview (K. Li)
    • Kevin put together some links with a first version of lists containing the different incoming tasks that need to be completed during commissioning. A checklist of dry runs was put together so that it can be followed up during each meeting; the same was done for the RF integration.

  • Round table:
    • ATIM generation is almost ready; configuration still be checked
    • Verena asked about the layout sequences in the repository - this is noted and still being worked on
    • Giulia: was looking at RF integration and commented to also add the OP applications (ACTION - to be checked with Guilia)
    • Ivan: algorithm on the making for emittance blow-up; (ACTION: Kevin to get in touch with Ivan for smarter generation)
    • Verena; ISTs safety procedures almost ready - still some open questions here; bake-out will be added to the risk assessment; Verena asked whether this additional tasks are included in the planning (Etienne to check with Antonio etc.)
    • Fabio - ATIMs application passes directly through LSA - need to check whether setting are good; another meeting for BLMs for inclusion into SIS is scheduled;
    • Stephane: BIC injection question was raised once more to have another input; Etienne sais that this is feasible in principle; (ACTION: have an offline discussion)
    • Lars: slip stacking - people are worried about the (ACTION: to be checked - get specs for RF revolution frequency in particular during slip stacking; also needed for the beam dump)
    • Elena: Theo is working on implementing an algorithm for asymmetric slip-stacking. Elena asked to prepare two cycles that can also deal well with the fallback ions beam without additional plateau (ACTION: foresee for ion preparation).

  • AOB:
    • - Access system, IST, fire safety W34-35, overview has been announced, by-pass for the ABT team is negotiated (still to verify with HSE) and OK.

  • Next meeting - TBC:
    • Bruno and Mike for procedures
