Beamline for Schools | The FLASH@ELSA Experiment
The organisers of Beamline for Schools (BL4S; https://cern.ch/bl4s) are glad to meet the teams interested in participating in the competition. In this online event, you will learn more about The FLASH@ELSA Experiment. At the ELSA electron accelerator facility, ultra-high-energy electrons (up to 3.2 GeV) are used to investigate their effects on cell samples using nanosecond to microsecond pulse durations. This approach may enable highly efficient treatment of deep-seated tumours via the FLASH effect. In preparation for medical cell irradiation, new fast extraction modes are developed. Dosimetry studies combining simulations and experimental measurements are conducted to evaluate the applied dose. You will meet with a scientist from ELSA, and you will have the opportunity to ask questions.
To facilitate the participation of people coming from different time zones, we will hold the same session two times, at 9 am and at 5 pm, CET (Central European Time). Below is the ZOOM link for you to join the event.
