Welcome to the CERN STEAM Academy 2026

The CERN STEAM Academy is an advanced training programme designed to equip participants with skills in scientific computing, software engineering, edge computing, data science, and machine learning.

The 2026 edition runs at CERN, Geneva, from 22 June to 28 August 2026 and is organised around three major themes: Modern Software Technologies, Edge Computing, and Data Science & Machine Learning. It brings together leading experts from academia, research laboratories, and industry to deliver a combination of lectures, hands-on sessions, seminars, and collaborative learning activities.

Academy Students

The core Academy cohort consists of selected participants who attend the full programme for 10 weeks during summer 2026, following the complete curriculum, going through weekly assignments, and receiving a Certificate of Completion at the end of the Academy upon successful participation.

Access for CERN Personnel

Selected Academy activities are also made available to CERN personnel through individual courses and seminars without being enrolled as official Academy students, subject to seat availability. However, they do not participate in the full programme curriculum and are not eligible for the Academy Certificate of Completion.

Courses

The Academy courses form part of the CERN STEAM Academy 2026 curriculum.

In-Person Attendance for CERN Personnel

Selected courses are open to CERN personnel for in-person attendance through separate registration. Places are limited and subject to room capacity. Priority is given to members of the Next Generation Triggers (NGT) project. Participation in assessments and final certification is reserved for registered Academy students.

Online Attendance for CERN Personnel

Selected Academy lectures are also available online to CERN personnel through a dedicated Zoom webcast. Participants may join any lecture of interest throughout the programme.

Please note that the Zoom connection is provided as a view-only webcast and does not support interactive participation as well as exercises support.

Seminars

Throughout the programme, participants will attend a series of seminars delivered by internationally recognised experts from CERN, universities, research institutes, and industry. These talks provide insights into current challenges and emerging developments in scientific computing and AI.

All seminars are open to CERN personnel, subject to auditorium capacity. A public webcast will also be provided, allowing external participants worldwide to attend remotely.

We look forward to welcoming you to the CERN STEAM Academy 2026!
