The current BSRH is a prototype, that is being developed into an instrument that is capable of automatically measure "beam halo" of the LHC. Currently there is a Python script that handles the acquisition. It is possible to break down the operational procedure into 3 parts:

  • Full alignment of the instrument
  • Online alignment of light on the read-out system and motion of occulter
  • The read-out system = basler camera, hamamatsu intensifier and VFC gate generator, taking images and rolling over bunches

During the meeting, it was decided to keep the high level operations (1 and 2) in Python (due to simplicity and fast prototyping capability) and bundle together the FESA devices of BTVDC and VFC gate generator together into a Gated camera fesa class - optimising speed and lowering the operational load of python.
As the request involves a reproduction of part of the BSRT class, the delivery date should be around March (provided that clear requirements are delivered before end of the year). Another requirement of the SW section is to prepare a simple system that could be tested during development of the new FESA class - (ideally in 865?).

Action Responsible
Prepare functional requirements for the requested FESA class Jan
Prepare simple lab setup of a basler camera, intensifier and VFC gate PM section
