Description

The FCC-ee failure catalogue is a table which summarizes the expected beam-related failures during FCC-ee operation.

The aim of this workshop is to go through all the failures in the catalogue and understand for each of them:

  1. Criticality of failure
  2. Can we protect against the failure?
  3. Are there any requirements to the protection system which are "non standard"?
  4. What are the priorities for studies required to answer the remaining open questions? Are there any concerns for resources?

During the workshop, the participants will be divided into groups which will focus on different categories of failures. Each group will have to fill out a table (link for each group is provided before) to help guide the discussion and answer the questions above.

Each group will have responsibles who should fill out the failure catalogue ahead of the workshop. All participants are also encouraged to look at the failure catalogue beforehand and add any missing information.

If you are planning to come, please register and indicate in your registration the group that you would like to be assigned to (we might rearrange to balance the number of participants in each group). Please note that some people have already been assigned as responsibles. The conveners of each group are underlined.

  • G1 - Electron cloud, obstacles entering the beam (UFOs), beam instabilities, ADT, depolarizer
  • G2 - Optics, physical aperture limitations (RF fingers, collimators, beam instrumentation), collimation
    • Responsibles: Gabriel Banks, Roderik Bruce, Daniele Calzolari, Jorg Wenninger
    • Link to table G2
  • G3 - Injection, extraction, EMS, RF
  • G4 - Magnets, magnets circuits, quench protection
  • G5 - Vacuum, synchrotron radiation, beamstrahlung, MDI

At the end of the workshop, there will be time for each of the groups to present the outcome of their discussions and identify actions and follow ups.

Registration will close on the 11th of September.
