"pro memoria", a few immediate actions mentioned during the meeting which would help for the next step:

SY/EPC:

  • provide a browse-through list of PCs from catalogue to be considered  by SHiP (eliminating those that are clearly not suitable or that can no longer be procured)
  • share dedicated document on current stability of PCs  => here, added 13.3.2025: EDMS Nr. 2048827.
  • quench protection / discharging: provide contact in TE-MPE ? (for future discussions)
  • available DC lines: provide contact in EN/EL ? (to get precises characteristics)

SHiP:

  • narrow down excitation properties of muon shield magnets to progress on defining the PC specs.
There are minutes attached to this event. Show them.
    • 14:00 14:20
Overview of SHiP magnets (as of today) 20m
      • muon shield options (full warm versus mixed superconducting + warm), including special magnets: magnetized hadron stopper, warm magnets with integrated neutrino/LDM detectors
      • functionalities, overveiw of requirements, mode of operation
      Speaker: Massimiliano Ferro-Luzzi (CERN)
    • 14:25 14:45
Power converters support at CERN 20m
      • what is included in support (procurement, installation, commissioning, maintenance, repair, decommissioning) under which conditions,
      • what PCs are supported at the "horizon 2030" or so (relevant for SHiP), existing and upcoming,
      • an overview of PCs and their characteristics (picture, power ratings, stability, ramp speed limits, control interface, dimensions, weight, etc.), and also cost (even if approximate),
      • what type of protection is included / not included,
      • where is detailed documentation on those PCs,
      • imitations about location of installation ? (near magnets ? far from magnets ?), SEE resilience ?
      • what could be re-used from existing hardware
Speakers: Ivan Josifovic (CERN), Yves Gaillard (CERN)
