- Move NorLHC-III to Bergen?
- Johan checks with Øyvind/Kjetil:
- Requirement - check whether this project will be prioritized by our Faculty/department
- At UiO there are quite some own-controbution coming with leiested. Can this be argued for also in Bergen?
- Heidi/James/Ole investigates if there are some downsides in Oslo
- For funding - we should argue for applying for more money than 80 MNOK (exchange rate / inflation), BUT
- We need to know what the requirements of the ALICE/ATLAS are
- For ALICE - To be discussed in next RRB (most likely also for ATLAS)
- Øyvind is key person - he sits in the RRBs - Johan can talk to him also about this.
- The WPs must figure out how much money it is reasonable to to apply for based on needs and expectations
- DRDs - no decision made on whether we should apply for money within NorLHC-III in this meeting. If we do:
- Be careful with applying for R&D funds (i.e. PhDs etc)
- can apply for equipment that enables our labs to be apart of this, or for contribution to production series etc.
- be careful with applying for money that might as well be for instance ALICE3 funding under WP1
- But maybe we should use other funding sources for this?
- For detector development - maybe the fascilities/resources at UiO can be used for ALICE3 when ATLAS ITk now is closing to the end.
- The Vertex detector - which we will be joining, is a very nice and (very) ambitious project where both USN and UIO labs can play a major role
- To be decided:
- Will computing be a part of this infrastructure application - or as a separate application. Matthias/Håvard/James/Farid to investigate
- When we have an idea on what we will apply for - call in for a detector meeting with Pål @ NFR to discuss this.
We need regular meetings for following up the application. A newdle for next meeting will be sent out after we know when the RRBs for ALICE are. Probably the meeting will be around easter. All action points above must be further processed by then.
