Description

Global general scientific seminars linked to ENLIGHT - ENLIGHT is a European network connecting physics, medicine, and technology to advance radiation oncology.

Artificial intelligence is rapidly transforming radiotherapy—from image analysis to treatment planning and clinical decision-making.

In this first ENLIGHT seminar, Prof. Raj Jena will explore how AI has evolved in radiotherapy, what is already impacting clinical practice today, and what lies ahead.

This session is open to researchers, clinicians, and anyone interested in the intersection of physics, medicine, and data science.

Speaker
Prof. Raj Jena
University of Cambridge, Department of Oncology & Cambridge University Hospitals

Raj is a Consultant Clinical Oncologist in Cambridge, UK and was appointed to be the first clinical professor of AI in Radiotherapy. He has been part of the ENLIGHT community since the first EU-funded PARTNER training project under the ENLIGHT platform in 2006. Since this time, his interests have focused on computational image analysis as applied to radiotherapy. He has also worked as a clinical consultant at Microsoft Research and will shortly become the Lead AI Advisor for Clinical Oncology for the Royal College of Radiologists in the UK.

We look forward to welcoming you to this first seminar of the ENLIGHT series.

AI in Radiotherapy, Past, Present, Future 45m

Radiotherapy has been an early adopter of AI technologies, due to the common interests of computer vision and radiotherapy image processing. In this talk, I will review the progress made in computational image analysis that led us to our current state of utilisation of AI in radiotherapy, and consider future applications, both in clinical radiotherapy and in discovery fields.
