NA61/SHINE is about to finish data taking tomorrow morning
Problems that appeared during the run:
- We had to prepare and recover for the planned power cut. Recovery was done very fast thanks to good communication with EN-EL and to their quick intervention to provide us two sockets connected to UPS circuit which kept the most recovery-problematic equipment from powering off during the cut. Additional thanks to James for the support with organizing the intervention.
- Magnet VERTEX-1 losing its helium level stability. One time it triggered the Fast Abort signal. Cryo group intervened by replacing compressor. It helped. The magnets were stable during remaining part of the run. Ludovic's group will investigate more after the run.
- No problems with CEDAR except of noticeable drop of efficiency in the morning of previous Monday when the EHN1 gate from Jura side was opened during morning. The efficiency came back to nominal after closing the gate.
- A water leak over the ground floor passage, close to magnet power converters. The ending of a pipe was just opened and the water was spitting regularly from it! Called TI. Work order 36422470. Fixed.
- Delay wire chambers have some efficiency problems at the beginning of run, but those were due to poor electrical connections of the signal cables. After fixing, the chambers worked very well and stable. One plane of one of the chambers however shows gradual loss of efficiency. Shifting of the chamber recovered the good efficiency level, but it still slowly decreases. This is the same chamber as the one with which we had most of problems during previous run.
Apart from these problems, after the power cut we have been running so smoothly, that it could be done by an autopilot.
