Round table to monitor progress on subgroup activities

 

15:00 → 15:40 Preparation for the Fall HEPiX Workshop

Speakers: Mr Andrea Chierici (Universita e INFN, Bologna (IT)), Dr Andrea Sciabà (CERN), Shigeki Misawa (Brookhaven National Laboratory (US))

A possibility is to replicate the formula of the Spring workshop:

• a Techwatch WG report covering the technology landscape and the latest market trends
• 2-3 topical presentations going more in-depth

 

Examples of topical presentations:

• Archival storage: outlook for tape and new technologies
• Networking hardware: evolution of the network infrastructure and protocols for the LHC Run 4
• Disk and flash storage: technology roadmap and how to optimize performance and cost in our deployments
• Strategies for GPU deployment at sites
• Liquid cooling and its application in WLCG data centers
• Evolution of the semiconductor industry and manufacturing
• Impact of hyperscalers, cloud and AI providers on the global market and pricing
