During the 2019 Open Days, we observed that a large proportion of visitors were primarily interested in understanding CERN's mission and its benefits to society. Before engaging with the technical exhibits or during the QA sessions, many asked fundamental questions such as: Why does CERN exist? What are the tangible outcomes of its research? How does society benefit from its activities?

To address this, I would recommend establishing a dedicated welcome area near the entrance where visitors can receive a concise introduction to CERN's mission, scientific objectives, and broader societal impact before exploring the exhibitions. This introductory activity could be coordinated by communication and outreach specialists, ensuring that visitors start their visit with the necessary context to better appreciate the technical content presented throughout the site.

In addition, it would be beneficial to prepare a short communication package or flyer for all personnel involved in the Open Days. This would help align the key messages delivered to visitors and ensure a consistent explanation of CERN's role, achievements, and contributions to science, technology, education, and society.
