Inspired by the OpenSE framework, the EN Department is working on a streamlined approach to project management tailored specifically for the sub-projects. The objective is to offer a simplified project lifecycle that aligns with the varying levels of complexity encountered in the field. Rather than enforcing a one-size-fits-all model, the initiative provides an adaptable toolkit—including processes, procedures, guidelines, templates, and related materials—to support efficient and effective project execution. The framework emphasizes flexibility, consistency, and accessibility, ensuring that it serves as a valuable resource. A strong onboarding process and continuous refinement based on user feedback will foster alignment and sustained improvement across all teams.
The EN Department is also developing an application called Project Management Platform (PMP) to integrate the data of the core institutional databases (Finance, Planning, Coordination), creating seamless data flow across management tools (CET, APT, EVM, PLAN, etc.). We highlight how these connections eliminate silos and automate processes, delivering immediate benefits to users through simplified access to project information while providing the organization with enhanced visibility and reporting capabilities. This integrated approach establishes a scalable foundation that evolves with CERN's project management requirements.
