CERN is pleased to invite you to a press briefing that will take place on Thursday 30 June, from 3pm to 5.30pm (CEST) on the CERN Meyrin site.
The press briefing will cover two topics:
The 10th anniversary of the discovery of the Higgs Boson
On 4 July 2012, the ATLAS and CMS experiments at CERN's Large Hadron Collider announced the discovery of the Higgs boson. Ten years on, we will celebrate this discovery, look at what has been learned since then and look forward to what is still to come.
The start of the LHC physics programme at the highest-ever energy
The LHC is ramping up to record beam energies of 6.8 TeV, since its restart in April. Its third run, expected to start on 5 July 2022, will mark the beginning of the physics programme of the LHC experiments with the highest-ever energy collisions at 13.6 TeV.
The speakers will be:
- Fabiola Gianotti, Director-General of CERN
- Mike Lamont, CERN’s Director for Accelerators and Technology
- Joachim Mnich, CERN’s Director for Research and Computing
- Luciano Musa, spokesperson of the ALICE experiment
- Marumi Kado, deputy spokesperson of the ATLAS experiment
- Luca Malgeri, spokesperson of the CMS experiment
- Chris Parkes, spokesperson of the LHCb experiment
- Gian Giudice, head of Theoretical Physics department
They will take questions on both topics.
Scientists will be at your disposal for interviews at the end of the briefing.
