NIC-IX Summer School

The scope of the school is to introduce Ph.D students and young physicists -
planning to attend NIC-IX - to the major topics of the symposium.

Subjects that will be treated include:

* Cosmology
* Stellar evolution
* Stellar explosions
* Element production
* Evidences of nucleosynthesis in stars
* Experiments in nuclear astrophysics
* Nuclear theory in astrophysics


The curriculum of the school is decided upon by the organizing committee in
collaboration with the international advisory and local organization committees
of NIC-IX.

The general schedule for the school is one where specialist lectures will be given
in morning sessions while the afternoons will be dedicated to student problem
solving and discussions. An important aspect of the school is to stimulate
discussion between students and lecturers and to establish new connections
between younger physicists entering the field and well established experts.

The school is sponsored by CERN and several scholarships covering the stay
at CERN are available. The scholarships cover accomodation and local expenses
during the school and conference weeks and also include the conference fee for
NIC-IX.
