The 2020 annual LHCb-UK meeting will be held on 6-7 January in Huddersfield, perhaps because it's a new venue for many of the collaboration.

Although the town is large enough to be a city, the centre is compact, defined by an inner ring road, with the university on the southern edge. There are maps here

Outline

A comprehensive and interesting programme of presentations is planned with contributions from across the LHCb analysis working groups. There will also be opportunities to discuss the preparation of the Upgrade and consider how the UK should focus its physics efforts. As is traditional at these meetings, priority will be given to junior members of the collaboration who wish to highlight their work.

The meeting will take place over two days, starting on Monday 6th where lunch will be available from 12:30pm. This will be followed by two presentation sessions starting at 1:30pm. Dinner  will be provided on Monday evening. Two morning sessions onTuesday will conclude the meeting with a finishing time expected to be around 1pm. A closed session for the steering board is expected that afternoon from 2pm-4pm.

Transport

It is easy to get to Huddersfield by train. The university is a short walk from the station. If you are coming by plane, you can get a train directly from Manchester airport to Huddersfield. Alternatively you can change at Manchester Piccadilly station.

If you are coming by car (it's just off the M62)  there are handy car parks on Firth Street.

Accommodation

As the university has no halls of residence, we unfortunately can't help with your accommodation arrangements. Your favourite hotel-booking website will give many possible options:  The Premier Inn (Central) is very close to the university and the town centre and where visitors often stay, and the Central Lodge is handy and gets good reports.  The Huddersfield Hotel is also nice and central.
