An EFT of galaxy shapes

The cosmological information in galaxy surveys is not limited to galaxy count correlations: we can go beyond treating galaxies as point-like objects and consider their shapes. I will present an effective field theory (EFT) approach for describing galaxy shape correlations. Focusing on a particular interesting application, I will then discuss how galaxy shapes can in principle probe the existence of higher spin fields during inflation.
