Description

Summary

In this informal talk, the speaker will share some stories and key lessons learnt (some of them the hard way) over a long trajectory of lobbying the EC and managing large R&D&I projects and programmes. The talk will require that the audience is interactive by asking questions.

About the speaker

Pablo Garcia Tello is a “grumpy old guy” who has a PhD in Solid State Physics and has been teaching at MIT during his postdoc. He then moved to managerial roles in industries like Philips and NXP Semiconductors. He started to build and manage R&D&I Programmes linked to EU Public funding while working as a Contracts & Programmes Manager at the Aerospace and Defense Industry Association of Europe and at PNO Consultants.

He started at CERN as Knowledge Transfer (KT) Officer and is section head of the  EU Office developing new EU funded projects and initiatives for CERN researchers, busy with ATTRACT and also supporting and organizing activities focused on Young Innovators at IdeaSquare.
He also delivers regularly pro-bono MBA lectures at the ESADE Business School. He published more than 50 scientific papers in top international peer reviewed journals and conferences, and holds more than 10 international patents in the areas of Micro/nanotechnology and Biotechnology.
He received among others the NXP Semiconductors Golden Patent of the Year award and the Falling Walls Prize in the category of Science and Innovation Management.
