PS magnetic model and BGI multipole - Part II
-MU a3: From Anthony's magnetic measurements MU a3=0.015 Tm/m^2 (@ 404 Amps, so a3_r = 1.8e-5 Tm/m^2) is measured with shorter coil and it is taken as the reliable one. This is a factor 3 smaller than BGI a3 after current proposed fix. Ideally we would like that BGI a3 is further decreased by another factor of 2 or 3.
-Sign discrepancy: Alex sees from MADX that looking in beam direction BGI field points towards inside of machine (right) and MU field points up. BGI a3 Sign ambiguity between beam and magnetic measurements still to be followed-up.
-Chromatic coupling measured and clearly shows dominating contribution by BGI. To be compared to model predictions.
-Tune oscillations confirmed with OMC3 code although different algorithms give different modulation amplitude by up to factor 2. The PFW have a 5kHz (-> 10kHz in beam) modulations however no spectral line is seen in PFW PCs. Possible follow-ups: *Dedicated Exp with depowered PFW to see if tune modulation is still there * TbT orbit measurement with large dp/p to see if 10kHz appears (from feeddown) *Motion of islands at 10kHz? Measure extracted orbit.
