D.S. reported that this week the project budget will be discussed together with the task force for the CLIC CDR/TDR; the new CLIC project leader will be appointed soon; the deadline for the pre-registration for next ILC-CLIC workshop is the 16 Sept 2010.
A.Oeftiger: Results on the fast beam-ion instabilities were presented. After a general introduction of the terms of the problem and the underlying physics mechanism, the hypotheses and the results of the simulations using the FASTION code were presented. The resonance frequency for different ions and gas combination were analyzed. The conclusions confirm the 1 nTorr specification considered in the CLIC CDR. After the presentation, the impact of the number of the macro-particles on the stability criterion and the possibility to detect the ions after the beam passage were discussed.
