Dissecting a hadron-collider data analysis

In this talk I will try to guide the audience through the most relevant steps of typical LHC data analyses, be it measurements of Standard Model processes or searches for new physics. I will address issues such as energy scale and resolution effects, determination of trigger and selection efficiencies, as well as explain some of the basic ideas behind so-called data-driven methods to determine background contributions.
