- Racks will be 800mmx600mm and height 35U each (two racks), need to be close to streak room (timing signal) and no more than 30m from the center of the plasma cell (high voltage cables). Racks must be accessible from both sides. Possible locations in order of preference: at location chillers (1 rack): next to shielding (1 or 2 racks, but maybe needs extra shielding), in streak room, assuming it can be tidied up.
- Alban shows slides summarising layout in the lab and how this will translate to the requirements in the tunnel, also addressing safety, radiation etc. Materials allowed for use in tunnels are limited --> see SSI attached (Action Ans)
- Vincent explains that the shielding in TCC4 towards TSG41 must be dismantled whenever a 10m-object is removed or installed from/in TCC4. This will need to happen several times (Eloise will add it to the planning): removal of shielding (blocks stored in the area) in January 2023 for the removal (to surface) of the current vapour plasma cell; installation of the shielding (maybe additional blocks too) once the discharge cell is installed and ready for protons in May 2023; again removal of shielding to allow the removal (to surface) of the discharge cell and subsequent installation of the new vapour plasma cell in May-June 2023, to be followed by the (final) reinstallation of the shielding as it was for run 2a before start of protons with the new vapour cell in June-July 2023.
Actions:
- Eloïse will make an overview planning of 2a-to-2b activities in 2022 and 2023 to be used in the integration meetings. It will later develop into a detailed planning for installation and coordination.
- Vincent will create the volumes (racks, cable routing, other?) related to the discharge cell and its services in the existing model, as well as screenshots showing the dimensions of racks & space available in chiller-location and location next to shielding.
- Eloïse will see with the vapour plasma team what can/will be reused for the new vapour cell, what can be removed, even if just from Jan-Jun 2023 (e.g. chillers). with the aim of having a working model of different moments: "after dismantling vapour cell", "before arrival discharge cell" etc.
- Ans will check with Giovanni and Stefano how the streak room must/can change for 2b.
- Ans or Eloïse will contact transport (Caterina or direct AWAKE contact person - who?) for a study of removal/installation of 10m-long plasma cell.
- Carolina will update list of connections (cables etc.), Vincent will propose a cable routing in the model (will need protective cover when crossing TCC4).
- Ans will look into safety issues as listed by Alban (contact Simon Marsh, HSE, as HSE AWAKE contact person), starting with the materials allowed in underground areas (transformers have PVC insulation, this may need an exemption).
- Eloïse or Ans will set up the next meeting in 2-3 weeks' time.
