Description
The presented work deals with the problem of modeling and process control applied to ATLAS-Argon calorimeter and NA62-Krypton calorimeter currently operated at CERN.
In such systems, the superposition principle does not often hold true, due to the strong nonlinearities of the cryogenic gases behavior. In this context a traditional well-established and advanced control techniques may pose problems for their practical implementation and operation. In large scale installations such as those discussed in this work, the experimentation possibilities are strongly limited. For this reason, an extensive use of simulation has been applied both in the mathematical modeling of the physical phenomena as well as in the design and validation of new control laws. The proposed techniques aim to improve operation performances and reliability of the aforementioned cryogenic systems.
