Abstract: In order to keep the length and power losses of the extraction septum magnet of the Future Circular Collider, superconducting solutions are required. The Conceptual Design Report contains two different concepts in combination: the superconducting shield (SuShi) septum offering small (20 mm) apparent septum thickness for 3 Tesla field, followed by the truncated cosine theta septum with 4 Tesla field and 30 mm wall thickness. The SuShi septum creates a field-free region inside a superconducting magnet using a passive superconducting shield. A demonstrator prototype is being developed in the collaboration of CERN, the Future Circular Collider Study, Wigner Research Centre for Physics (Budapest), and the University of Miskolc (Hungary). The presentation, as a teaser, will overview all aspects of the SuShi septum project: the concept, proof of concept tests and performance of different shield materials, optimization and design of the magnet and the shield, the development of an affordable manufacturing technology for the best performing shield material, a NbTi/Cu multilayer sheet, and the current status of the manufacturing of the prototype.
