PRR (Production Readiness Review) for MQ coils production at TESLA

Europe/Zurich
Michele Modena (CERN), david luckin (Tesla Eng.)
Description

 Scope

The main scope of production readiness reviews is to assess the production readiness and the ability to start the production phase. Consequently, the functionality and design of the components reviewed are outside the scope of this committee. The reviews are considered particularly useful for equipment that is not purchased “off the shelf”.

Mandate

The PRR panel is invited to assess for this equipment (i.e. MQ coils production at TESLA):

  1. Scope of work: Is there a clear definition and clear interfaces?
  2. Design and Safety: Was there any previous design review of the equipment? If so, have the recommendations and findings been implemented? Are there any open issues concerning the design? Are all safety-related issues properly addressed?
  3. Procedures, construction specifications, executive drawings: Are all in approved status, verified by due authority, and well documented? Is the present status of the documentation considered sufficient to go ahead with the production?
  4. Quality Assurance: is it correctly in place (i.e., procedures, documentation, check/holding points, etc.?). Are the foreseen inspection steps sufficient to guarantee achieving the established requirements? Are all the lessons learned from the prototype phase effectively implemented? This also applies to the Nonconformities detected during the prototype phase.
  5. Components
    a. Availability and delivery schedule margin. Procurement Plan. Impact due to Market issues (if any) to be reported
    b. Logistics (flow and storage).
  6. Assembly tools
    a. Availability, qualifications
  7. Production planning robustness.

Modus operandi

Ideally, to be effective, the PRR is organized either right before or just after starting production. The review is intended to be an agile instrument and the review itself is targeted to last not more than one day. After each review, the committee will compile a report containing findings comments, and
recommendations within one month.

Panel Review Composition

For this PRR the Review panel will be composed by:

Michele Modena (ATS-DO: HL-LHC Project Office) chair of the panel.

Hector Garcia Gavela (ATS-DO: HL-LHC project QA officer).

Alessandro Bertarelli (EN-MME),

Nuria Catalan Lasheras (SY-RF),

Helene Felice (TE-MSC).
