Description

Beta minus and proton emission are, a priori, contradictory decay processes that move the nucleus in almost opposite directions of the nuclear chart. However, for a handful of halo nuclei, the last neutron is so weakly bound that the energy window for this exotic decay mode is open. In this seminar I will explain the experimental attempts to observe this elusive process and understand the possible mechanism that could enable it.
