Software meeting
32-1A24
Meeting held on Thursday , February 8, 2007
The meeting was held today by Brigitte and minutes written to be sure every one knows about the status of the ongoing LKR energy baseline reprocessing.
The story: in the last full compact reprocessing of the data in 2005, an undesirable addition of 10 GeV to each cluster was active when the Energy Baseline correction was not available. This was fixed later for 79 runs of 2004. However, a few runs escaped the identification and were later discovered as being still affected by the 10 GeV addition. They were either short runs, ( most often labelled "test") , either only affected partially.
From 2003 : 12 runs were identified as having escaped the first reprocessing to fix the LKr energies . Apart from one long run (~1600 bursts) and one medium size run ( ~600 bursts) all others are very short runs ( few bursts)
From 2004 : 14 runs were identified , standard size ( ~500 bursts)
Last friday, Venelin started to stage the necessary compact bursts and Cristina run the supercompact production program . However, before going on with the next steps ( charged SC split, neutral SC split and charged hypercompact), one needs to understand why ~7% of the bursts cannot be accessed by the program.
This will be investigated before friday night as Cristina will be away the whole next week.
We will keep you informed of the outcome of the investigation. It has been clearly stated that the non- availability of these data can delay the production of physics results for Winter conferences for some analysis.
Other matters :
- the transition from CASTOR1 to CASTOR2 has been harmless for some users. The migration of files to tape with CASTOR2 seems very slow. At the moment Cristina is using CASTOR1 for the reprocessing.
- SLC4 : depending on specific tasks, some problems were identified and solved with the help from Help-desk or some friendly colleagues.
- Augusto mentionned than Ginette is willing to retire at the end of June and will not be available full time in the coming months as she has to empty her account of "spare holidays". All the tasks she is handling have to be transferred to another person(s) as well as the expertise. Volunteers from the collaboration should not be shy and identify themselves as soon as possible. This concerns ( at least) RAW and CMC program librarian, computer accounts, afs space administration, VO administration,..... It was stated that there is no money in the Common Fund to support external man power and that human resources should be found within the collaboration.
