CONCERT
Le Chœur du CERN occupe une place particulière dans la vie culturelle régionale, à Genève et en France voisine. Le Chœur se produit régulièrement, plusieurs fois par an, et il s'associe également à d'autres Chœurs de la région pour interpréter des œuvres nécessitant un grand nombre de chanteurs. Le répertoire contient une grande variété d'œuvres maîtresses connues et moins connues de différents compositeurs, régions et époques. Notre directeur, nos solistes et nos musiciens sont des professionnels.

Dvořák a commencé à composer son Stabat Mater en février 1876 et la version définitive de la partition a été achevée en novembre 1877 à Prague. Le Stabat Mater a été joué à Londres en 1883, puis à nouveau, au Royal Albert Hall, en 1884, et a ainsi joué un rôle crucial dans la percée internationale de Dvořák en tant que compositeur.
Le Stabat Mater est composé de dix mouvements qui se concentrent sur différents aspects de la poésie, dépeignant la souffrance de Marie et la compassion de la personne qui la reflète dans diverses nuances de notation, de tempo et de tonalités. La musique du premier et du dernier mouvement partage des thèmes, encadrant la composition. Les mouvements offrent une riche variation dans la notation vocale. Alors que neuf mouvements restent dans un tempo lent et reflètent la souffrance de Marie dans une méditation compatissante, le dernier mouvement offre une vision du paradis. The CERN Choir holds a particular place in the regional cultural life and in Geneva and in nearby France. The choir performs regularly, several times a year, and it also sings together with other choirs in the region to perform works needing a large number of singers. The repertoire contains a large variety of known and less known master works from different composers, regions and eras. Our director, our soloists and our musicians are professionals.

Dvořák started to compose his Stabat Mater in February 1876 and the definitive version of the score was fininished in November 1877 in Prague. The Stabat Mater was performed in London in 1883, and again, in the Royal Albert Hall, in 1884, and thus played a crucial role in Dvořák's international breakthrough as a composer.
The Stabat Mater is in ten movements which focus on different aspects of the poetry, depicting the suffering of Mary and the compassion of the person reflecting it in various shades of scoring, tempo and keys. The music of the first and last movements shares themes, framing the composition. The movements offer a rich variation in vocal scoring. While nine movements remain in slow tempo and reflect Mary's suffering in compassionate meditation, the final movement offers a vision of paradise.
