Minutes of the MADMAX CERN Meeting

1. Introduction (J. Bernhard)

• Planning of North Area approved by RB last week. Restart first of may and commissioning starts mid-April 2023, as planned.
• Restart of magnet (N. Guillotin): need ~one week from the restart of the water to start the magnet cooling that then last 25 +/- 2 days. This was not anticipated by MADMAX and will impact the overall CB100 test time. To be rediscussed at the next meeting. 
• Enter the MADMAX period in the new PS-SPS system. Done by Pascal Thursday 15-Dec.

2. Morpugo magnet (A. Dudarev) : magnet tested, working very well. If possible need 1/2 day to fix one last problem before the start.

 

3. MADMAX Schedule (P. Pralavorio)

• overview of the CB100 and G10 test foreseen in 2023.
• Ask for the magnet cooling to start as soon as possible after the water stop, to benefit for the maximum of CB100 test.

3. CB100 test (B. Majorovits)

• Schedule did not change. Non-linear problems in the receiver DAQ, mentionned in October, still present. Work on-going to find a solution and a plan B in case this is not possible in time for the CB100 test at CERN.

4. G10 test (D. Kreikemeyer)

• Discussion on going with the cryolab and converger on a first planning for the G10 test in April. Delivery of the G10 cryostat to cryolab expected end of February,
• Questions were raised on the LHe dewar transport from Meyrin to Prevessin, LHe recovery during the test and problems with safety. These questions have been fowarded to Torsten Koettig, cryolab responsible.

5. Safety (L. Rowland)

• Operating procedure needs to be described in an ISIEC

6. AOB

• Andre Rummler mention that ATLAS may consider to use the magnet at the beginning of the beam time -- which will imply keeping the magnet cooled down. TBC at the next meeting

7. Next steps

• Next meeting: Will be organized 16-27 Jan. 2023. A doodle will be send by Johannes to find a date
