Laurette gave an overview of the operation of AD and ELENA machines over the last few weeks. A progressive increase of t he number of protons on target is being carried out, which translates into record number of pbars injected into AD and ELENA and in fine delivered to experiments.

The works carried out during latest YETS on improving the protection of the AEgIS area have given useful results and the radiation levels in the zone are no more the limiting factor for intensity increase for the beams.

The next limitation will be the stability of the ejected beam from PS. It seems that the next 5% increase step will be the last one before this limit is reached.

The problems encountered during the last weeks are linked with vacuum (regular spikes in RF C10 cavities, every 2.5 h), and in LNE07 (GBAR) transfer line.

Also recurrent trips of the Qmains power converters occasioned beam time losses.

Francois showed the planning of works for the next YETS, both in AD hall, AD machine and ELENA machine. The ALPHA barrack replacement will be detailed during next ADTC meeting.

The bulk of activities in AD is focussed on sector 4, with the extraction fro refurbishment of 2 main magnets, and replacement of defective IPM system.

For ELENA, only minor maintenance is planned, and he aim is to minimize the time during which no beam is available, in particular following a request from GBAR to use Hminus beam till the end of the year, and potentially early in February. As a consequence, a number of activities will be reshuffled in this direction. The replacement of 1 defective and installation of 1 missing SEM is unlikely to be possible during this YETS, due to unavailability of the hardware,

Davide explained the introduction of a AD improvement project, as requested by IEFC in the follow-up of AD mini WS organized 16th of March. The objective is to propose a set of priorities in terms of consolidations and improvements to the management, defining the future of the facility. For this, is is mandatory to collect the requirements from the experiments in terms of infrastructure and beam quality/performance and propose matching improvements. The first objective is to improve the automation, the operability, the reliability and the easiness of fault recovery. In a second time, it is proposed to investigate the performance increase (intensity, bunch sizes, repetition rate), the energy of beams delivered and even possibly the types of particles delivered,

A roadmap is proposed towards a phase-out of the AD-CONS program (now merged into ACC-CONS) and its conversion into a more ambitious and long term oriented project, towards continued pbars physics beyond LS4. This will be backed-up by a call from SPSC for new experiments proposals in Feb 2024.

AOBs:

The update of SCADA system will lead to unavailability of vacuum monitoring tools on 16th January and during the power cuts.

The extraction of 1 magnet and 1 GEM from unused DEM line in AEgIS zone is being confirmed with the experiment and will be the object of a future ECR. Work expected to take place in January.
