Description

Abstract:

The lecture will concentrate on what Open source is vs. what people misunderstands it for. At the foundation of Open Source (Free Software) the licensing plays a very relevant role and licensing can only be understood having the general copyright system in the backdrop. The students will receive information-dense introduction to all relevant aspects, including what is the role of licensing, the different types of licenses, other rights that can play a role, how to properly license one's software and what the constraints are, or how to ensure FOSS compliance.
