We didn't go through many Savannah tasks today: those few discussed have been updated in Savannah. We discussed the following points:
# Production issues
- MC production
Vladimir would like to use the new replication plugin before launching the next productions. It is already in production with a hot fix, but we should wait for the certification to be completed.
Vladimir is resetting the status of few files to "unused". Some of these files didn't manage to be replicated, more investigations needed.
# DIRAC Release Update
- v5r11 patches
The certification is ongoing. The replication seems to be successfull, but few more checks have to be done. A fix regarding the way the replicated files are reported to the production web page seems to work, but again few more checks have to be done (the logic might not be perfect). This fix could also be put in this patch release: after this is done, we could finally make this patch. Could be done today or tomorrow.
- v5r12 release status and certification tests
The DIRAC v5r12 pre-release is being prepared by Andrei. He's going to make this release today. DIRAC v6r0 is also being prepared.
- Certification procedure
In https://lhcb-cert-dirac.cern.ch/doc/_build/html/ there is a draft regarding certification procedure. Everybody has a look please.
# Data Management issues
Philippe made a script to check the status of the replication. It is not yet in SVN, Philippe will put it in the trunk so this could be put in the pre-release.
Another possible problem is the status of some files (EW.DST) that "disappeared" from the storage elements. It is not clear what happened, if it is a bug in DIRAC or if it is another problem. This files exist in the BKK. More investigations have to be done, we'll ask the sites to know the timestamps of when they got deleted. This discussions triggered the idea of a Data Recovery tool: Elisa, together with Ricardo and Andrei is looking at the possibility to resurrect the idea of a tool for automated checks, using an integrity DB.
Elisa is asking for help on how to configure a test for the storage usage DB: the idea is to not go through the whole LFC but rather a fraction of it. A dump has been requested to the CNAF and SARA contacts. Another point is the format of the dump.
- Data Archival
The storage elements are defined. The question is how to do it.
2 issues:
1) how to archive what we have now: it is a replication. The short term solution is to make a list of files and then using a script to make the replication. A better solution is to make few archival transformations: Federico, together with Vladimir, will prepare a script to do this job. There is no rush (~6 weeks but this should be done).
2) what we do for the future. A possibility is to implement a new plugin, or better to pass to the plugin the needed parameters. Vladimir will take care of it.
# AOB
LHCbDIRAC documentation could be put in the same way as for what we did for the DIRAC documentation. Where does this go? The web portal has to be adapted to serve also as documentation handler. Andrei says that documentation should be part of the release. Technically this could be done with the same tools we use for DIRAC documentation.
(LHCb)DIRAC week: we have to be sure that also the spanish guys are here.
There are minutes attached to this event.
