Maximal temperature of non-Abelian dark sectors

With the example of an axion-like inflaton coupled to a dark sector, we estimate the maximal temperature that can be reached by non-Abelian gauge fields after inflation. Depending on the confinement scale, two qualitatively different cases are found, with the maximal temperature above or below the critical temperature. Implications for different sources of gravitational wave production are outlined.
