This week, Stefano De Angelis will tell us about "One-loop Gravitationsstrahlung and Heavy-Mass Effective Field Theory".
Abstract: I will start by reviewing how Scattering Amplitudes and heavy-mass effective theory can be applied to study classical (gravitational) scattering. In particular, I will focus on the gravitational-wave emission in the scattering of two spinless heavy objects at next-to-leading order in the Post-Minkowskian expansion, showing the result for the corresponding one-loop five-point amplitude. This amplitude exhibits the expected factorisation of infrared divergences, the correct soft limits, and highly nontrivial cancellations of spurious poles. Finally, I will show some numerical results for the next-to-leading corrections to the spectral waveforms and the far-field time-domain waveforms, using the Newman-Penrose scalar.
