      Monitoring/KPIs
      • Update on the discussions on monitoring measures and KPI by each topic

      Guiding questions for the discussion:
      - What measure need to be monitored?
      - How could they be monitored?
      - What is currently being monitored?
      - What could this mean for the OS report (due end of 2024)?

      • a) Open Access
      • b) Open Data
      • c) Open Source Software

Our discussion essentially concluded that the KPIs for open-source software should be put together and monitored by the OSPO. We propose to ask the OSPO to provide the list of intended KPIs for comment from this group by some date.

      • d) Open source hardware
      • e) Research Integrity and Reuse
        • What measure need to be monitored?
        • How could they be monitored?
        • What is currently being monitored?
        • What could this mean for the OS report (due end of 2024)?

There is currently no monitoring of Research Integrity, Reuse and Reproducibility. This is entirely left up to the funding agencies/the experimental collaborations.

We could consider monitoring the following:
        - The proposed development of analysis preservation templates within and possibly across experiments/collaborations including the forming of a forum for this purpose.
        - Progress of defining what research integrity entails for particle physics.
        - The use of CERN-provided tools and services required for reuse and reproducibility (quantify).

For the OS report, we should in particular demonstrate progress with respect to analysis preservation templates in experiments and come up with some hard numbers on platform use.

      • f) Open infrastructure
      • g) Research Assessment
      • h) Education, Training, Outreach

KPIs regarding CERN's Open Education, Training, and Outreach materials should include both (a) the open access to the material (as defined in the implementation plan) and (b) its impact (i.e. how many views, downloads etc.).

Comment by Kamran: might also be interesting to analyse who accesses the material
