Description

Event shape observables in collider physics are important for testing the Standard Model, understanding QCD dynamics, and exploring features of gauge theories and general quantum field theories. Energy-energy correlators (EEC) are one class of event shapes that have recently attracted both theoretical and phenomenological interest.

In this talk, we will discuss the application of modern conformal techniques to collider physics, specifically in the context of the collinear and back-to-back limits of EECs. In the first part, we will review how to reformulate EECs using light-ray operators and understand their collinear limit as the light-ray operator product expansion (OPE), followed by showing applications to QCD and understanding transverse spin structures.

In the second part, we will explore the relationship between the back-to-back limit of EEC and the double lightcone limit of the local correlator, which is dominated by large spin contributions and has been extensively studied in the analytic conformal bootstrap. We will illustrate how this approach enables the study of back-to-back limit power corrections and present the next-leading-logarithm resummation result at next-leading power in N=4 SYM.
