Dear Summer Students,
We warmly invite you to our Welcome Session on the first day of your contract (3rd July) at CERN at 08:45 in 222/R-001 - Filtration Plant, close to CERN Meyrin hostel.
You will meet us directly there. We will provide you with your individual welcome handbooks and before our presentation starts at 09:15, you will have the chance to have a small breakfast with us.
Please note that this event has been created for 6 days, just because most of you will arrive over the weekend, and you will require your access card from the beginning.

Important Information, please read the following carefully:
Please note that it is mandatory for everyone at the CERN site to wear a valid access badge at all times. By registering to this event you will be able to print out your temporary access card which will be valid from Friday before your contract starts until Wednesday afternoon.
You will have to complete the following steps:
1. If not yet done, create your CERN computing account. You can request the activation of your account by sending an email to the CERN Service Desk at service-desk@cern.ch attaching a copy of your identity card or passport. Once activated you will have 5 days to pass the mandatory online security courses afterwards (you will receive this notification).
2. Register below for the "Summer Student Welcome Session" by Tuesday 31st of May. There is only one step to confirm your identity in order to obtain a temporary access badge:
- Register and indicate your first name, last name and email address (note that Indico assigns your CERN email automatically to this field if you already have one) and also request CERN access and indicate some personal information (birth date, country of birth and place of birth). You must tick the option "request access to CERN Site option".
- Once you have submitted this step, we will approve it on our side as soon as we can and you will receive a confirmation email with attached your temporary access card.
- Please print and bring this card with you on the first day to enter the CERN site.
If you wish to enter the CERN sites with a vehicle, you must register it online on https://vehicles.cern.ch/vehicles/ (please note the validation process can take up to 48 hours, so please ensure you do this well in advance).
As of your first contract date you will be able to fetch your permanent access card from building 55 when most convenient (reminder: your temporary card is only valid until Wednesday afternoon of your first week at CERN).
