Description

LHCb UK Seminar:

Our speaker is Stefan Schacht, a UKRI Stephen Hawking Fellow at the University of Manchester. Stefan is a theorist with a particular interest in flavour physics phenomenology and who has worked closely with LHCb in the past. If you're curious about the more theoretical side of your work then this is a great opportunity to find out more.

We give a short introduction to quark flavor physics, including the CKM
matrix, flavor-changing neutral currents and CP violation.
As classic examples, we compare the mixing of kaons, B and charm mesons
and study how to extract sin(2 beta) from B->J/psi K_S.
We briefly touch current developments like the status of the B anomalies
and charm CP violation.

This seminar will take place both on ZOOM and in-person, in room 4/3-001. Refreshments will be provided.
