USLUA Fundraising & Finance Subcommittee
DonorSearch seems quite useful for identifying potential donors. GiveButter (or something similar) may be something we want to consider in the future, once we have some more donors to track/contact (note from John: I think I didn’t sell GiveButter very well, and so the utility may not have been clear. But let’s see what the freelancer suggests, and go from there).
Hiring a freelancer to help develop a fundraising strategy seems useful, and at the going rate ($50-100/hour) should quickly pay for itself. John will spend some time browsing freelancers on upwork and present a few options for discussion at the next meeting (the two freelancers presented at the meeting were just quick examples of what is available). Essentially, we want some expert advice on a structured approach to expanding our fundraising efforts, and advice on handling various use cases (reaching out to foundations, corporations, random philanthropic folks).
John will also try to find info on ATLAS awards to industry partners. He couldn’t find anything on the web, but will reach out to ask.
We also discussed reaching out to 2-3 of the more promising foundations that David identified. Depending on his availability, David may reach out to them soon, or we may wait until we have some advice from a freelancer.
David pointed out that we should ping the labs soon that have not made their agreed-upon contributions to USLUA. Since it isn’t urgent, we can wait until the next meeting to do so.
