Abstract:
Monolithic stitched sensors are being developed towards the Inner Tracking System3(ITS3) vertexing detector for the ALICE experiment. There are several challenges encountered during development, including limited power budget, trade-off between IR drop and speed, manufacturing yield, etc.
In this seminar, I will start with an overview of ALPIDE sensor that is currently installed in the ITS. We will look into each circuit block by following the flow of hit information from the collection electrode up to the matrix readout. This will help to understand the working principle of the monolithic pixel sensor. Then, I will introduce the MOnolithic Stitched Sensor (MOSS) which is the first stitched prototype developed towards the ITS3 detector, and discuss design challenges regarding yield.
