3.7.2023 — Online Meeting Data Generation WG

Meeting coordinates: zoom room online, 3 July 2023, 10:00-11:00

Present: Adnan Ghribi (CEA/CNRS), Adrian Oeftiger (GSI), Barbara Dalena (CEA/IRFU), Chenran Xu (KIT), Francis Osswald (CNRS/IPHC), Kevin Cassou (CNRS)

Minute Taking & Moderation: Adrian Oeftiger

Discussion aspects:

  • Adnan: MRSEI funding 30kEUR secured, useful for professional writing, also a professional writing company responded that they would be interested in supporting the writing/communication part as partner (not being paid for service)
  • going through the added study cases in the white paper draft:
    • Barbara: describes the 2 DA packages in their study case
    • Adnan: collective effects interplay, analogous to Adrian's working package with more DOF
    • Kevin: presented 3 study cases, 1 simulation (well defined), 1 data acquisition (roughly defined), 1 application of these two to AWAKE (by Damien)
      • Kevin: discussing question of where the boundary of the optimisation WG and our WG is
      • Adrian: not necessarily discrete boundary, rather focus put differently in both WG but aspects naturally intertwine (as also Verena mentioned)
      • Adnan: also useful to not only have simulations but also experimental cases
      • Adrian: very important to underline applicability to machines, economic data generation should have machine in view, so having the data acquisition study case can be super useful
    • Adrian: discussing to open a separate section for data management, to try out several approaches during hackathon formats in dedicated groups, and learn during several iterations which format is best suited. List possible alternatives (centrally managed like Andrew presented last time vs p2p managed like Ami was mentioning etc)

  • Adrian: need to develop vision on milestones, deliverables and time table for the programme when meeting at the workshop
  • Adnan: 48months of programme, so 4 years

  • Adrian: introduces indico page under https://indico.cern.ch/category/17078/

Action items:

  • everyone finalise outlining their study cases until end of the week
  • Adrian brushes up white paper draft next week before the workshop
  • everyone send a slide with short summary of their study case to Adrian before workshop
