. Presentation by R2E (G. Mazzola) concerning simulation of the radiation field from losses of PSI's in the SPS tunnel, and implications for the electronics and laser in TI18. It is shown that contribution related to single electron losses are expected to dominate the lifetime of PSI's in the SPS. Simulation shows however that the radiation field in the TI18 tunnel and around the optical cavity is dominated by three electron losses, which scale is difficult to extract from current simulations. Radiation monitors will be insulated during YETS for one year. They will be used to calibrate further the simulations along with BLMs installed in the SPS ring.
E. Granados mention that the radiation field in the tunnel itself is also quite large under the assumptions of the presented simulation which also may be an issue for the electronics that may be needed in the tunnel for the optical system.
A. Martens further complement that indeed there are also expected translation stages to be installed in the optical cavity and that need to be operated during PSI operations.
G. Mazzola reminds that the present simulation is likely conservative, and that the order of magnitude need to be confirmed by comparing these to actual measurements.
. A. Martens shares the information from Witek that application to the INFRA-DEV is postponed. Other funding means for the PoP and in a broader scope GammaFactory need to be investigated. He also shared, on behalf of Yann Dutheil, that a 3D scan is also planned in TI18 for the next YETS.
. Presentation by STI/LP (E. Granados) concerning advances related to the delivery of the laser oscillator for the PoP foreseen for October 2023, vibration tests performed in the SPS tunnel with a simplified setup and progresses towards design of the periscope mount to be installed in the SPS tunnel. Tests of periscope stability are foreseen in synergy with AWAKE work, and will not induce work inside Ti18 during the coming YETS. Active stabilisation may be needed to preserve good coupling of the laser to the optical cavity, where main loss source is expected to come from angular jitter.
A. Martens wonders if the the actuators for stabilisation may be placed in the optical room and at the top of the periscope to minimize risk related to radiations on this device.
E. Granados confirmed he has the same idea, and that they may also be both placed in the laser room. Detectors still need to be placed closed to the optical cavity in any case.
. A Martens asks if someone has something to mention. Nobody replies. Meeting is closed.
