Collider injection and machine protection (S. Yue):
- Investigations to rotate the phase space -> reduce horizontal emittance and increase vertical one
- Maximum vertical emittance limited by aperture collimators
- Kevin will investigate the potential influence of a large vertical emittance on the SR cone around the IPs (~0.37 nm)
- The injected beam can be split into 10 chunks
- This could reduce the maximum amount of beam deposited on injection protection device to 1%, which is the present limit considered
- This may be an issue with the present RF synchronization prospects between the booster and the collider, RF is looking into this
- Petr needs to study its possible influence on hardware design, such as power, cost.
- Due to limited lifetime, the additional increase in injection time should be considered. The injected time for electron/positron is about 1 s, making up around 2.5% of total cycle time (~40s for Z)
- The scheme of 10 injection has little influence on the average SR power, but it can reduce the SR peak power.
- Michael and Katsunobe are checking the ring beam dynamics with the injection section optics designed by Sen, ongoing optimisation
- There will be an optics meeting next week
- Sen will present the injection scheme
