Le 11 février est la Journée internationale des femmes et des filles de science. À cette occasion, pendant une semaine, la Faculté des sciences de l'UNIGE, l'EPFL, le LAPP et le CERN proposent aux établissements scolaires la venue de femmes scientifiques ou ingénieures pour parler de leurs métiers aux élèves (en classes mixtes).
Elles sont invitées à raconter leur parcours, dévoiler quelques mystères de la science et à mener quelques petites expériences si elles le souhaitent. L’idée est de faire évoluer la perception des classes envers les métiers scientifiques et d’ingénierie, en présentant des rôles-modèles féminins. Et qui sait, peut-être de susciter des envies de carrière, en particulier chez les filles.
Conditions de participation pour les volontaires :
- inscription ouverte à toutes les femmes exerçant un métier en lien avec les sciences, la technologie, l’ingénierie et les mathématiques (STIM), mais aussi l’informatique, la communication ou la formation ;
- priorité aux intervenantes du CERN, de l'UNIGE, de l'EPFL et du LAPP. Si vous n'appartenez à aucune de ces institutions et souhaitez participer, contactez-nous ;
- présentation d’une heure pour une classe de 35 élèves maximum, âgés de 7 à 15 ans ;
- majorité des interventions en français (95 %), mais des interventions en anglais sont également possibles ;
- participation obligatoire à une séance d’information au CERN ou par visioconférence ;

Become an ambassador for science and inspire the next generation!

11 February is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. On this occasion and for the whole week, the UNIGE Faculty of Science, EPFL, LAPP and CERN offer local schools the opportunity to welcome a female scientist/engineer to talk about her profession to the students (in co-educational classes).
They are invited to talk about their career history, reveal some mysteries of science and, if they wish, to conduct some small demonstrations. The goal is to change the pupils' perception of the scientific and engineering professions, providing them with female role models. And who knows, perhaps interest more pupils, particularly girls, in a scientific career.
Conditions of participation for volunteers:
- • Registration is open to all women working in a profession connected with science, technology, engineering or maths (STEM), as well as computer science, communication or education.
- Priority will be given to presenters from CERN, UNIGE, EPFL and LAPP. If you are not from one of these institutions but would like to take part, please contact us.
- Volunteers will deliver one-hour presentations for a maximum of 35 pupils aged 7 to 15.
- The majority (95%) of the presentations will be given in French, but presentations in English are also possible.
- Volunteers are required to attend a briefing session at CERN or by videoconference.
