Meeting of the HEPiX IPv6 Working Group
10 Oct 2023 starting at 15:00 CEST (1 hour Zoom)
Agenda: https://indico.cern.ch/event/1335077/
Present: MartinB, DaveK, TimC, AndreaS, Carmen, Costin, EdoardoM, FrancescoP, Raja, Duncan, NickB, Dimitrios, Bruno, ChrisW, AlastairD
- Agenda was agreed - main item is to prepare for presentation to the WLCG MB on 17th Oct 2023.
- Alastair Dewhurst, Tier-1 Manager at RAL, first raised an issue of AOB. After lots of reconfiguration of the Tier-1 network at RAL, they are now peering with IPv6 over LHCONE from the new network. They have been testing connectivity with other sites across LHCONE and observe problems with IPv6 on the new Tier-1 network whereas it did work on the old network. Short discussion highlighted possible issues with firewalls blocking ICMP Ping. Having made contact with some other Tier-1 it was agreed that this would be further investigated outside of this meeting. (note added later - and was fixed).
- New ticket campaign for sites to deploy dual-stack CPU (services, Compute Elements, and client worker nodes). AndreaS has an agenda item to present this at the WLCG Managment Board meeting on 17 Oct 2023. (DaveK will be in Canada for the HEPiX meeting on that day - Victoria BC). Each of the experiments spoke (Andrea CMS, Dimitrios ATLAS, Costin ALICE and Raja LHCb and also DUNE). All experiments support this new campaign and the rest of this meeting discussed the content of the slides Andrea will show to the MB meeting.
- Note added after the WLCG MB meeting. The new ticket campaign for deploying dual-stack CPU was approved by the Management Board. We will discuss and agree final details during our London meeting on 22/23 November 2023
- We ran out of time - no real discussion of the London meeting or the talk at HEPiX - these topics were followed up via email
