Weekly meeting on Xboxes 01/11/2023

PAA makes a brief summary of status of Xbox2. Scandinova modulator have been giving problems for two weeks now. PAA is communicating with Scandinova technical support to fix it. 

In the meantime, we are preparing things for calorimetry test campaigns of klystrons. NCLH comments that Sergio is on sick leave, and until next Monday we won’t be able to switch klystrons. WW and IS say they don’t see now necessary to swap klystrons and to do directly calorimetry measurements. 

NCLH comments we still need to break vacuum if we want to characterize the directional coupler. IS comments it would be interesting to check also how the directional coupler behaves at 24 GHz (second harmonic in the coupler), and the filters. PAA reminds that the spectrum analyzer arrives at end of November. 

IS still wants to call Canon and make them come to show us how they do their measurements.

 

General comments on planification for Xbox3. AG summarizes status of pulse compressor: after metrology, it would be ready for testing. 

NCLH asks about specifics for pulse compressor operations. Answer: 2us klystron pulse width, 300ns compressed pulse, Test to up to 40 MW at least. AG not sure about temperature (33C ?), he needs to check it. NCLH says she will ask Pedro to do integration for testing in Xbox3.

NCLH asks about temperature in testing campaigns, AG says they have only measured temperature of cavity. 

MV and MW highlight that there is still one pulse compressor that has not being tested yet. To test the BOC, we think about putting it in the bunker, bypassing the pulse compressor, to test it (as there is one line free now).

WW says we could ask Frascati to test something, in case there is need. NCHL lists some things we need to test, including BOC, spiral loads.
