Description

I will illustrate how we can learn about axion physics by considering axion dynamics in the  early universe and its phenomenological signatures. This can be used to constrain its UV completions. I will in particular discuss the rich phenomenology associated with early rotating axions, that arises from the interplayed dynamics between the axion and its partner, the radial mode of the Peccei-Quinn field. Another fascinating story is the possibility of interplayed dynamics between the axion and the Higgs at early times, that can be used as a minimal solution to the (little) hierarchy problem.
