Higgs boson mass measurements in CMS and ATLAS
by
,Abstract:
The mass of the Higgs boson is a free parameter of the Standard Model and all other Higgs boson properties depend on it. During this Collider Cross Talk, the latest direct experimental measurement of this parameter performed by the ATLAS and CMS Collaborations will be presented. These measurements use the full Run 2 dataset collected by each experiment at the LHC between 2015 and 2018. The common ingredients and different analysis choices that led to the most precise determination of the mass of the Higgs boson for each collaboration will be highlighted.
Filippo Errico is a staff researcher at the INFN Rome since November 2022 and a member of the CMS Collaboration. He got his PhD at the University of Bari in March 2019 working on the searches for resonances decaying into muon pairs with the CMS experiment at LHC. Since 2019 he has been involved in the studies of the Higgs boson properties in the ZZ decay channel. Since September 2022 he is the co-convener of the CMS HZZ sub-group.
Haider Abidi is a staff researcher at the Brookhaven National Lab and is a member of the ATLAS Collaboration. He got his PhD at the University of Toronto in 2020 on performing Higgs couplings and STXS measurements in the HZZ channel. He has contributed to various other Higgs measurements and object performance studies. Since October 2022 he is the co-convener of the ATLAS HZZ sub-group.
