Description

CERN, in collaboration with ABB, is undertaking the motorSENSE project which aims at assessing and improving the energy efficiency and reliability of large-scale research facilities through a case study of the EN-CV cooling and ventilation infrastructure at CERN.

This talk summarizes the project goals, the different phases of the project (e.g. installation of ABB smart sensors, data collection and analysis, condition monitoring, detailed studies for selected installations with respect to achieving energy efficiency goal) and the results achieved. In addition, it is discussed how the digital twin technology is helping to take the study a step further by reliably anticipating the impact on performance and energy savings resulting from proposed actions on a selected plant.
