ECT workshop on Diffraction and gluon saturation at the LHC and the EIC

WARNING: If you receive a mail from events@gtravelhosting.com asking to organize your trip, this is fake, and please do not answer them. Do not give your data to any external services upon email request, there are cases of fraud that happen for each workshop nowadays.

The general scientific goal of this workshop addresses the high gluon density regime of QCD to observe saturation and diffractive production at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC) being built in the US at BNL.

The first topic deals with the high gluon density or saturation regime at the LHC and the EIC. The main goal is to explore strong interactions in novel conditions, characterized by high parton densities and strong collective phenomena. This new regime of QCD gives access to the non-linear structure of QCD in a weak coupling context, where controlled calculations are possible and recent calculations within the Color Glass Condensate framework at next-to-leading order make predictions more reliable.

The second topic deals with diffractive events, namely events when protons or ions are intact in the final state and can be measured directly using roman pot detectors or using the rapidity gap method. The main subject will be the relation between diffraction and saturation.

The workshop will take place at ECT*, Trento, between June 10 and 14 2024. This form is a pre-registration only (final registration together with hotel booking will happen later in 2024).

This meeting is by invitation only and limited to 40 participants.
