PUMA@ISOLDE #5
PUMA beam line details
It was clear that the most urgent and important points to address to advance and provide the vacuum and BI colleagues with the necessary information to start their designs and procurement were:
- Have an optics model available and
- Freeze the layout with nr, position and type of the various components
- Define the aperture of the chambers and flanges for the different components
Secondary to that were questions on whether the existing BI cards can read out the signals from the MagneTOF detectors (Lukas). The actuator can easily be adapted (William).
Define the positions and finalise integration (Simon) – related directly to an optics model and frozen layout.
In the meantime the aperture of the DBoxes was provided (William) = 44.3 mm
And from what I understood from Wolfgang the one of the ELENA type elements is 60 mm.
Meaning that DN63 could be used for the interconnections or, optics permitting, one could think about DN50 which would be in favour of the vacuum.
Lukas, has there been any progress made lately in iterating to a final layout and optics model?
One of the points you raised was the position of the Paul Trap and MR-TOF perpendicular line with regard to the IDS setup which you would like to see moved downstream to avoid any clashes. Did you find a better position without sacrificing the optics?
If necessary we can sit together and see how we can advance so that we can provide Jose and Willliam asap with data they need to start their work.
